Lead Transportation Analyst

Ian is a transportation planner at BA Consulting Group, with experience in transportation policy and planning.  He completed his undergraduate degree in Urban Studies and Geography in 2009, before graduating with a Master’s of Science in Planning degree in 2011 – both from the University of Toronto.

As part of his co-operative education, Ian has previously worked for the Toronto Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO), an arms-length former entity of the City of Toronto.  Additionally, he has interned in Research and Policy Development at the Toronto Environment Office as a Policy Researcher assisting in the development of transportation related research and policy.

Ian has actively worked as a transportation planner in the transportation planning and engineering field since January 2012.  His experience includes report and proposal preparation with elements of traffic, access and parking.  Ian has also worked to prepare active transportation plans and TDM plans for Secondary Plan areas and for a variety of developments in the Greater Toronto Area.

His interest in the transportation field includes sustainable transportation options, mobility hub and land use development, pedestrian issues, parking provision and policy, and trip generation.  In completing his graduate degree, Ian’s thesis work focused on transportation issues for low-income populations in the City of Toronto’s inner suburbs – focusing on priority neighbourhoods in Etobicoke and Scarborough.  He researched route management, transit pricing schemes, the relationship between urban form and transportation infrastructure and transit as a policy tool.
