Emily Ecker P. Eng.

Following a successful co-op term at BA Group, Emily joined the firm full time in 2009 after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours Civil Engineering).

Since joining the firm, she has provided traffic analysis and planning services in support of several projects, including the new River City mixed-use development in the West Don Lands district.  As the first phase of Toronto’s new revitalized waterfront, River City is a collection of five mixed-use buildings proposed to be built over the next five to seven years.  The building complex will be surrounded by one of the largest plan public parks in Toronto, an 18-acre oasis to be called Don River Park.  Emily has contributed to the site planning and transportation planning elements in support of this sustainable and transit-first development.

Since 2009, Emily has been working closely with Urban Strategies and Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) on the redevelopment of the Alexandra Park Neighbourhood, a unique revitalization that will provide the existing residents with new community centre facilities, public park land, and newly built housing.  This project will be phased to maintain “Zero Displacement” of residents during construction.  Emily’s involvement in this project includes providing traffic advisory services, development of a functional road plan, and a phased parking strategy for TCHC residents.

Emily is a member of ITE and APBP and, at BA Group, she is an active participant in technical workshops and other continuing education efforts.
