About Us

Our Passion is Transportation

BA Group provides transportation planning and engineering services to public and private organizations.  We provide thoughtful plans for the movement of people and goods in urban environments.  Our focus is sustainable urban land development and the legal, functional, social and economic implications of various transportation systems.

Any facility that attracts traffic – pedestrian, bicycle, transit or car – requires expert care in planning and design.  BA Group works with clients and colleagues around the globe to analyze and improve existing systems and to get new projects approved, designed and developed efficiently, with the public’s interest in mind.

While other transportation consultants work from within large, generalist engineering firms, we focus purely on transportation issues in support of high quality urban environments, and specialize in sustainable planning, multi-modal transportation infrastructure, impact studies, site audits, parking facilities, concept design, and expert testimony.

Our work is focused in the Greater Toronto Area and Southwest Ontario. Occasionally our collaborations with world renown architects and planning firms also takes us to projects across Canada and internationally including projects in the United States, Mexico, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Since 1974, we’ve earned a reputation for solving the most complex of challenges through the application of creative thinking, innovative tools, and vast amounts of custom field data from Canada and abroad.

BA Group collaborates with architects, planners, lawyers, developers, governments, and other consultancies to integrate transportation systems into the seamless operation of municipal infrastructure, office and residential complexes, shopping centres, hospitals and universities, industrial projects, event centres, and a host of other large-scale facilities.

We carefully consider our collaborators’ objectives and obstacles so that we may work together to successfully realize our clients’ business goals. Creativity and collaboration are an integral part of BA Group’s corporate culture. Working as a close-knit team, we nurture our professional relationships carefully in order to complement and enhance project objectives.

Land Acknowledgment and Reconciliation Statement

BA Group acknowledges that our Toronto office, and most of our projects within the GTA, are situated on the traditional territory of many nations, including the lands of the Mississaugas of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat. We also recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

BA Group also acknowledges that our Kitchener office and the projects we do in Southwest Ontario are situated on the lands traditionally used by the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Neutral People. Southwest Ontario is also home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and we recognize their enduring presence.

We understand that for reconciliation to start, we must first understand how the colonial system and its historical practices, including many transportation policies and practices, have caused harm to Indigenous peoples. As a first step in the journey we must therefore help everyone know the truth. As such, BA Group commits to providing all staff with training from an Indigenous teacher to ensure we all understand Indigenous history and the impacts of the colonial system. We also commit to take this understanding and continually look for ways in which our work in the transportation planning and engineering field can support the goal of reconciliation.

BA Group is committed to the advancement of a diverse, equal and inclusive workplace – one that reflects the diversity of the City, Region, and Province we work in. We understand that BA Group’s future success as a consulting firm lies in creating a workplace that fosters positivity, creative problem solving, and engaged learning through collaboration and the thoughtful exchange of ideas. This can only be done through celebrating our similarities and differences with respect to a wide range of values including gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, age, physical abilities, religious belief, academic background and professional experience.

In 2020, BA Group embarked on a change process in response to a desire from our staff to make Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a key focus for BA Group. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusive efforts to date include establishing a DEI Mission Statement, the formation of a DEI Task Force, the engagement of an outside consultant to provide a DEI assessment, and a commitment to work together with all our staff to develop a forward looking DEI strategy for continuous improvement. This strategy, which is currently being formulated, will help BA Group achieve our DEI Mission Statement which is: To make Diversity, Equity and Inclusion primary aspects of our company culture and professional practice.

BA Group is committed to providing equal access and participation for all people with disabilities. Our goal is to provide a supportive workplace that values independence, dignity, respect, integration, and equality of opportunity.
