North York General Hospital’s restructuring included the rationalization of service delivery and building operations, building additions, and complementary site plan modifications, including a new retail and restaurant complex. BA Group conducted pedestrian studies to support the feasibility of the new developments.
Since 1966, Sparks Street has been a permanent pedestrian mall, containing retail, restaurants, banking, offices and homes. In 2001, the National Capital Commission engaged BA Group to assess the transportation component of a revitalization plan. We collected and analysed pedestrian volume data, and reported on parking issues and transit options.

This major office complex needed to integrate with a bus and subway station at the intersection of Yonge St. and York Mills Rd. In consultation with the city, the Toronto Transit Commission, GO Transit, and the owner, BA Group prepared a detailed pedestrian simulation study to ensure that bus, subway, and street-level pedestrian movement was appropriately accommodated.
