CANstruction is a Triumph!

Nov 16, 2010

BA Group is proud to have been involved in Toronto’s CANstruction for the seventh year!

Our structure, “The Arc de Triomphe: Triumph Over Hunger” rendered the famous Parisian landmark in canned tuna and green peas, complete with the iconic traffic circle (of course), cars, and tourists!

Sponsored by the Society of Design Administrators, CANstruction aims to end hunger.  Design, architecture and engineering teams enter to build structures entirely out of non-perishable food items, which, at the end of the friendly competition, are donated to local food banks – in Toronto, the recipient is the Daily Bread Food Bank.  The event currently takes place in 125 cities across North America!

Build Night was Monday, November 8th, and over 30 BA team members showed up to help build, with many working late into the night with fantastic results.
At Awards Night on November 9th, we were the very proud recipients of the award for Best Meal!

Thanks to our incredibly generous sponsors, we were able to buy over 10,000 pounds of food!

BA Group would like to thank all of our generous sponsors and the entire BA CANstruction team!  We are incredibly proud of this outstanding accomplishment and award, but we’re most proud of the contribution we were able to make to help end hunger in Toronto.  Since 2004, BA Group has donated a total of 34,000 pounds of food!

Photos of all the structures are available on the SDA’s website.
