BA Group honoured at 9th Annual CANstruction!

9th Annual CANstruction Competition

For the fourth year in a row, BA Group has been honoured at CANstruction!

Sponsored by the Society of Design Administrators, CANstruction aims to end hunger. Design, architecture and engineering teams enter to build structures entirely out of non-perishable food items, which, at the end of the friendly competition, are donated to local food banks – in Toronto, the recipient is the Daily Bread Food Bank. The event currently takes place in 99 cities across North America.

Build Night was Monday, November 5th, 2007, and the BA team worked late into the night with fantastic results.

BA Group’s structure was entitled “Clean Up Hunger in Aisle 2” and depicts a grocery aisle with four rows of shelves, each containing food specific to the four basic food groups: Meat & Alternatives, Grains, Dairy, and Fruits & Vegetables. The highlight of the structure was a mop and bucket, with an empty space representing the “stain” that needed cleaning, which symbolized hunger.

Thanks to our incredibly generous sponsors, we were able to buy over 11,000 pounds of food represented by over 250 different varieties of food products! Our full list of sponsors is below.

At Awards Night on November 6th, we were the very proud recipients of the Best Meal award! Gail Nyberg of the Daily Bread Food Bank commented, again, on our use of baby food and formula, which is desperately needed at the food bank.

BA Group would like to thank all of our generous sponsors and the entire BA CANstruction team! We are incredibly proud of this outstanding accomplishment and award, but we’re mostly proud of the contribution we were able to make to help end hunger in Toronto.
