BA is the Best of the Best!

Aug 16, 2007

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. was the recipient of the Toronto Construction Association’s 2006 “Best of the Best” award for the “Project Achievement - Large Project” category for the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. As part of the multi-disciplinary team who contributed to the successful development of the new centre, BA Group has received a Best of the Best Certificate of Excellence from the Toronto Construction Association.

The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts is a 2,000 seat live theatre venue built specifically for opera and ballet performances. The FSCPA is home to the Canadian Opera Company and National Ballet of Canada and is located at Queen Street West and University Avenue. It was designed by Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. (DSAI) and includes a multi-storey, glass-enclosed lobby adjacent to University Avenue called the “City Room”. The views and animation of the City Room are quite compelling, especially at night when it is illuminated.

Our involvement in this project was quite extensive and included traffic, parking and loading studies associated with the municipal approval process, as well as a direct contribution to the physical/functional planning and design of all transportation related site and building components, i.e., vehicle access, underground parking garage, loading facility, parking control, traffic control and directional signage, safe exit signage, and off-site road improvements.

BA Group is proud to have been a part of this culturally significant world class venue since its early inceptions in the 1980’s, through to its final, impressive realization.
